FINAL MAJOR PROJECT

improve the effectiveness of Accident and Emergency wards, by addressing Patient flow. Therefore, reducing the demand for NHS A&E by decreasing avoidable admissions or attendances.

Research

i had the opportunity to research within the NHS - through work experience and ward visits, to better understand some of the issues that are faced on the wards. this research helped me to understand the flow from arrival to discharge and what areas i could focus on to develop a product that could resolve some of the bottlenecks faced within A&E Wards.

concepts

Once I presented the ideas to the key stakeholders, I was then able to focus on developing concepts that could meet the needs identified in the research phase.

final

after another round of critique, I was able to further refine the chosen product and explore some ideas which would benefit the users and help to quickly identify patients in need of help so as to prevent them from having to spend too much time on the ward, especially at the discharge stage.
